Born in 1995 in Firoz Koh, Afghanistan, Roya Heydari is both photographer and filmmaker.

She works for international publications (Business Insider, Al Jazeera, The Middle East Eye, TRT World), as well as for East Eye, TRT World), works with international associations (UNHCR, GIZ, WHO, MSI, Save the Children) and appears in numerous documentaries and feature films.

With the will to make Afghan women living in rural areas visible, she travels across Afghanistan at the risk of her life to film, photograph and tell their stories. Arriving in France in 2021, she is a member of the workshop of artists in exile.
